摘要

Preoperative planning for lower limb deformity correction surgery used to be performed manually on long standing radiographs with the help of a pencil, transparent goniometer and a long ruler. Moreover, simulations for corrective cuts and osteotomies are usually made by copying the radiographs on tracing papers and making the required cuts and corrections on these papers. Medically oriented computer programs were available in the last few years to facilitate the process of preoperative planning in orthopaedic surgery. The fields which got substantial benefits from these applications were mainly deformity correction surgery, joint replacement and trauma surgery. These specialized programs have many built-in functions and modules for analysis of different anatomic regions. They also provide many templates for commonly used orthopaedic implants (prostheses, nails and plates).
