China's small flake graphite export price rises on yuan gains, higher costs

China’s small flake graphite prices ticked up slightly on Thursday November 19 in only the second upward adjustment in the year so far, amid a stronger yuan against the dollar and rising cost. Fastmarkets’ assessment for graphite flake 94% C, -100 mesh (-194), fob China edged up by $5 week on week to $445 per tonne on Thursday. Sources attributed the upward adjustment mainly to yuan appreciation against the dollar. The small flake graphite market has largely been in a downtrend over 2020, hitting a two-year low in the middle of the year and then staying stable until the end of October when exchange rate fluctuation broke the stability.
