With many metals and minerals prices hitting five-year highs in early January on the strength of optimistic expectations for global economic growth over the next 12 months, the mining industry has good reasons to be cheerful at the start of 2018. Even the long-suffering exploration sector has cause for optimism because this year is likely to see more money on the table for early-stage mining projects, analysts have said. This optimism is also being felt among exploration companies on the ground.
