Lithium carbonate prices jump on proposed ICE ban in China

The lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) spot market in China rose above the lithium hydroxide (LiOH) price in mid-September as it emerged that China is working towards banning all petrol and diesel cars domestically. On 9-10 September, Xin Guobin, the Chinese vice-minister of industry and information technology, said in a forum hosted in Tianjin that China is working on a timetable to ban petrol and diesel cars, however, the timeframe and plans were not disclosed by the Chinese official.
