Jack Barrett and Jim Gordon were childhood friends. Both had joined the Army. While Jim was posted in India and fought the war in Afghanistan, Jack was with the Secret Service, and in course of time, they lost touch with each other.When Jim had retired, married and living in the outskirts of London, Jack contacted him. Both Jim and his wife Peggy were overjoyed and Jim rushed to the city to bring his friend home. Peggy decided to organise a party and invited the local Padre and twoothers. When the quests arrived Jack Barrett looked at Sir Edward and became thoughtful and silent. Later in the evening he whispered something to the man, which made him faint.When the couple had departed, Jack narrated his story, it was published in the May, 1929 issue of this periodical.
