The foundry industry in India is significantly spread as small-scale sector. This paper deals with the findings of scope for adoption of Best Available Techniques (BAT) carried out for the foundry cluster located in Gujarat, India. A survey was undertaken (June 2012 to February 2016) to investigate the possibilities of the implementation of BAT for benefits of cleaner production processes for micro, small and medium-sized foundries in this region. It was found that these industries are far away from new techniques which may be implemented without many efforts with respect to cost benefits. It is believed that Cleaner Production (CP) is not possible without applications of BAT. Thus, the main purpose of this paper is also to present some recommendations for the adoption of BAT for Cleaner Production in MSME foundries by focusing various factors such as technology, markets, inputs etc. It is possible to enhance performance of the foundries. The recommendations are made for foundry owners, entrepreneurs, foundry engineers and the government authorities for policy measures to be taken in future. This analysis is based on six assessment areas and was taken from over 100 ferrous foundries.
