Safety Aspect in a Ferrous Foundry

Safety is a culture to protect oneself from known and unknown hazards. This culture begins at home and should be practised right from childhood. Safety means protecting not only human life but also environment. We must have attitude, knowledge and commitment to develop safety at home, society as well as in our workplace. In case of any accident in a foundry, there may be loss of life, production and delivery commitment. We can form a practical idea about hazards and safety measures after meeting an accident and not repeating the unsafe activity. This is termed as Reactive Method. There is another method known as Proactive Method in which an idea on safety measures is formed anticipating the hazards and taking advance safety precaution. This paper covers safety aspects of a foundry making high quality ferrous castings.
