Eclipta prostrata (Family: Asteraceae) is the most important aromatic herb, commonly known as Bhringraj. It is a small annual, multi-branched, erect or prostrate plant with white flowers; the plant achieves an average height of about 20-90cm. Leaves are opposite, sessile, lanceolate, and densely arranged on both sides of the stem. Invalcural bracts are herbaceous, ovate, acute, appraised pubescent. Its flowering and fruiting occurs duringthe month of July to October.
