Drosophila sing songs of love. A male approaches a female and makes sound by vibrating its wings. How does a fly discern the courtship song at that time? I visited the lab of Professor Azusa Kamikouchi who researches the mechanism of cerebral nerves linked to the auditory sense of drosophila by fully utilizing the methods of molecular biology at the Division of Biological Science, Graduate School of Science, Nagoya University.
