Second Native Bee Association: Conference Report

摘要

From 5th to 7th December 2019, 170 delegates from across Australia and overseas came to The University of Queensland for three days of talks and activities around native bees. Delegates were received with a traditional Welcome to Country, native bee dance, and Fire Lighting Ceremony, performed by the Elders and members of the Yugambir, Nunukul, Kombumerri, and Yuggera tribes.About 55 speakers from Australia and overseas, presented their latest findings in native bee biology, systematics, management, disease, pollination, native honey, andcommunity engagement. The program ranged from scientific to applied; there was something for everyone. Plenary speaker, Dr Cristiano Menezes, spanned research and practice in a brilliant talk in which he showed how a deep understanding of the complex biology of stingless bees helps us the keep these bees and use them for crop pollination and honey production.
