Weapons of Moth Destruction: An insider's report on the Spruce budworm ba廿le in New Brunswick

There's no sign of budworm on the lush emerging buds of a Colorado blue spruce (Piceapungens) on the grounds of Schooner Point Log Cabins, on the outskirts of the City of Miramichi, N.B. It's a different story in Campbellton, two hours to the north. Terry Traer, an employee with Forest Protection Limited, brings in a small twig of the same species, with half a dozen worms munching on it. Somewhere between Campbellton and Miramichi is- the budworm's southern front. Near Maple Glen, due east of Sunny Corner on the Northwest Miramichi, is the southernmost block of New Brunswick's 2018 budworm spray program.
