Global water challenge generates -both quantity and quality concerns

Managing the world's water resources is a constant challenge, alongside ensuring that the water that some are drinking, or washing in, is clean, pure and thirst-quenching, rather than a source of infection and disease. Over the next ten pages, we report on the aims and objectives of politicians and industry leaders, meeting in Kampala; look at how scientists at University of California Davis are seeking to apply a new digital gaming tool to drought issues in Kenya; review the work being done by a team at the University of Sheffield to identity rice plants which are able to withstand extended periods of drought and hear from Practical Action on their water-based achievements in Darfur.
