Russian Nigeria interest mounts

Russian companies continue to circle Nigeria with no confirmed deals completed yet although the governments have said they will partner in the upstream, gas and power sectors. Unconfirmed reports from official news agency Interfax say that Lukoil has bought deeper into Chevron's assets in the country (see AOG 9 January), but in the meantime Russian ambassador Alexey Shebarshin met with NNPC head Mallam Mele Kyari to consolidate on the gains made from the Russia-Africa Summit held in Sochi last year.
