For some time, adhesives have been assuming a leading role in the field of joining technology. They were successfully established as a viable option amongst alternative bonding techniques such as screwing, riveting, welding and soldering. Especially in the automotive, aircraft and building industries, high safety standards are required and necessary. By the end of 1970, several mechanical tests were developed for investigating the adhesive bonding safety from a technical point of view. The most common are the lap-shear test [1-4], the tensile strength test [5-7] and the peeling test [8, 9]. Particularly the first procedure is applied to generate lap-shear stress values for technical datasheets.
