September's CPI was announced on 17th October to be 3.0% - the highest for over 5 years, although this is in line with predictions. This particular figure is important because it the one used to determine the uplift to NHS and State Pension benefits effective from next April and, for those with 2015 CARE scheme pension pots, to determine the indexing. For members with "Deferred NHS Pension" benefits (i.e. where you have not yet taken your NHS pension but are no longer contributing to it) it also determines the uplift to their benefits. The figures have to be confirmed by HM Treasury but we expect uplifts:
