Energy storage is a vital component in the battle to reduce carbon emissions.It is vital for two principal reasons: 1.It allows more efficient use of renewable power generation for when it is required.2.It can help to establish fast charging and standard charging stations for EVs.In both cases there is a need to put generated electrical energy into an electrochemical store and to then use that energy when required.In the first case,it is needed at peak demand periods;in the second,it can provide very high-power outputs for a few minutes to fast charge EVs.
