Turbomachinery vibration analysis: case studies using data from online vibration monitoring systems

The objective of this paper is to highlight the importance of online vibration monitoring systems along with diagnostic software. Three case studies related to vibration problems of turbomachinery in the oil & gas industry are discussed. The equipment was provided with online vibration monitoring systems for protection from catastrophic failure due to high vibration, along with data storage and analysis software. The case studies discuss the identification and analysis of the vibration problem using various plots available in the online monitoring system. The importance of reviewing historical data for condition evaluation and establishing the source of problems is highlighted.
