Changing atmosphere affects how much water trees need

Spurred by increasing Levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, forests over the last two decades have become dramatically more efficient in how they use water. Scientists affiliated with the US National Science Foundation's (NSF) Harvard Forest Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) site have reported the results in Nature. Harvard Forest is one of 26 such NSF LTER sites in ecosystems from deserts to grasslands, coral reefs to coastal waters, around the world.
