Participation of rural women of marginal, small and big farm families in crop farming activities in Tafresh area of Iran

摘要

Since time immemorial, women in Iran have played vital role in agriculture, the largest industry contributing to the source of livelihood. Women's share in agricultural labour is stated to be at 40 per cent. This figure does not take into account their activities at the household level, including vegetable gardening, flower production, etc., which supplementthe family income. In Tafresh area of Iran, women play an important role in mixed farming activities, which is the most predominant way of farming. Farming is a major component of mixed farming, the extent of participation of rural women in this activity was investigated as one of the specific objectives of the study.
