Bosnian coke producer ordered to halt operations on environmental issues

Leading Balkan coke producer was ordered to halt operations due to environmental issues.Global Ispat Koksna Industrija Lukavac (GIKIL) will suspend operations until it obtains the necessary environmentalpermit, Metal Expert learnt. The company failed to renew its environmental permit, which had expired back in January2017. Besides, it was accused of poisoning the nearby Spreca river with toxic waste. As a result, on August 24, GIKILwas given a 30-days deadline to gradually suspend operations.
