Abinsk Electric Steel Works (AESW) has chosen a business strategy of developing production and sales of high value-added products. Considering this strategy, the recent purchase of Mini-Mill Balakovo from Severstal, a mill specialising in rebar, was an unexpected move. Metal Expert talked with AESW’s frst deputy CEO Ivan Demchenko to learn why this acquisition took place and how the mill will be integrated into the company business.
