Several restarts from maintenance and the startup of new capacity are expected to bring May production to a record high—a 6% increase on the month as well as on the year. Argus noted that maintenance closures brought March and April output down despite the 1Q startup of Group II production capacity in Europe. The region is expected to see a 7% monfh-on-month rise in production to reach a high not seen since late 2015. A number of E,uropean Group I units have been closed down since that time due to the shift in demand to Group II products.
