Argentina’s LNG Imports in 2019 Down 51% YoY

According to the trade statistics of Argentina, the country’s LNG imports in the calendar year of 2019 stayed at 1.253 million mt, down by 50.6% year on year. Its LNG imports had peaked out in 2014 (4.27 million mt) and have continued decreasing since then. Especially a significant rise in shale gas production in the country is further accelerating the drop in LNG imports -- the import volume dropped to one-third level in the current three years.
