In a world where coal-fired power production is expanding, Indonesia is taking the lead in growing coal output. In the past decade, Indonesia has risen to become the largest exporter of thermal coal and is likely to hold on to that title in the foreseeable future. According to official statistics, Indonesia’s production has risen from 254 mt in 2009 to an estimated 557 mt in 2018.
