Global business summits -is the target more political than business?

EVER since Mr. Narendra Modi as Chief Minister of Gujarat started the practice of organizing global investors conference at periodic intervals, this seems to have become a trend in India now. In recent time, a number of states have been organizing global business summit, which are sometimes called as global investor conference. These conferences are held with much fanfare (some say like a festival) In many instances, these conferences are preceded by officials and ministers visiting various states in India and also countries abroad, to attract the potential investors to participate in the conference and set up projects in the state. The conference is also advertised extensively with the photograph of the Chief Minister in prominent place.
