The Dome underground mine,which Goldcorp’s Porcupine Gold Minessubsidiary operated near Timmons, Ontario,closed for good on December 31 followingmore than a century of production.The shutdown was “due to costs,” anassistant to mine general manager MarcLauzier said on January 2 in an interview.The deep mine had been scheduled forclosure in 2016, but its life was extended by18 months.
