The Platts Shanxi daily spot alumina assessment fell another Yuan 20/ mt ($2.87) to Yuan 2,320/mt ex-works Shanxi cash terms Aug. 5. The market outlook stayed bearish and buying interest remained weak with smelters heard buying only when needed. Market sources also attributed limited market activity to an upcoming domestic alumina industry conference taking place in the week beginning Aug. 9, sources said.
