Singapore—S&P Global Platts assessed the weekly spot 65% grade silicomanganese price at $1,150-$1,180/mt CIF Japan on Thursday, up from $1,040-$1,100/mt last week, as supply remains tight with major producer India still in a lockdown in a bid to control the spread of COVID-19. Rising feed costs also remained a strong supporting factor, as prices for manganese ores continued to rally this week, with major supplier South Africa also in a lockdown, sources said. Gabon 44.5% manganese lumps were heard offered this week at $5.55/dmtu CIF China for May shipments, up from $4.15/ dmtu quoted for April cargoes.
