摘要

The organization of repetitive and single copy sequences along the chromosomes, and the positioning of sequences within the nucleus at interphase have important consequences for plant genetics. Functional genes are organized in clusters, mainly in subtelomeric regions, which are also the favourite site for stable transgene integration. Although plant chromosomes evince characteristic linear distribution of dispersed repetitive DNA motifs along the chromosomes, their distribution is homogenous withrespect to the genomic complement per se.
