New Chinese rebar standardrules, and the resultant banning ofQuenching & Tempering, QTB productionprocess of the bar, is expected to hikeChinese silicomanganese demand, as thestate’s plan of wiping out water cooled rebarwould spur producers to add manganese infuture rebar production, Chinese industrysources said Wednesday.The new rebar standard, which came intoeffect November 1, is aimed at preventingwater cooled bar disguised as hot rolled rebarfrom circulating in the market, Wuhan-basedChinese brokerage Changjiang Securities saidin its monthly ferroalloy report.
