FOB Australia met coal price dips on lower offer; Chinese price stays flat

Singapore—Asia-Pacific metallurgical coal prices delivered to China were unchanged on the day, but nudged lower for the PLV FOB Australia category due to a lower firm offer on Oct. 2. S&P Global Platts assessed Premium Low Vol down 50 cents/mt at $138.050/mt FOB Australia Oct. 2, while PLV CFR China was unchanged at $148.50/mt CFR China. The spot market saw another day of thin trading as buy and sell side participants retreated to the sidelines. A firm offer for globalCOAL HCCA was seen at $137/mt FOB Australia for November laycan, down $1/mt from Oct. 1. There were no firm bids against the offer, however.
