January US ferrous scrap prices move further down

Further signs of weakness emerged Tuesday in the US scrap market as mills lowered their bids for material and dealers weighed their limited options. Sales began on Monday afternoon at down $30/lt in the Midwest and by Tuesday morning Ohio Valley mills were buying shredded scrap at down $35/lt while mills in the Southeast were paying down $40/lt compared to December pricing.
