Turkish import ferrous scrap prices still under pressure

London—Buyers and sellers were negotiating scrap import deals to Turkey in a market that was still bearish, sources said Thursday. After around nine bookings reported this week, at prices of $292-$299.50/mt CFR, the market activity was calmer Thursday but was likely to pick up soon as more demand was expected from Turkish steelmakers. Buyers were pushing for prices below $290/mt CFR for heavy melting scrap 1/2 (80:20), a trader said. Bids fell to $285/mt CFR, while offers were at $292/mt CFR, he added. “It seems price will come to less than $290/mt CFR,” a trading house source said.
