Yamal LNG Commissioning Nearly Completed

Yamal LNG commissioning works have entered the final stage, with gas from the South Tambei field already flowing into the plant and first samples of gas condensate received from the separation process, Mark Gyetvay, deputy CEO of Novatek, the project's 50.1% controlling shareholder, said last week. Novatek plans to launch the first 5.5 million metric tons per year train this month. Train 1 was 97% complete as of the end of September, according to Gyetvay, with the overall progress for the three-train plant of 89%. The second and third trains are expected on stream in 2018-19, ramping up LNG production to the plant's 16.5 million tons/yr design capacity.
