Ukraine Piles Pressure On Gazprom Eurobonds

Gazprom was forced to cancel a planned issue of eurobonds denomi- nated in Swiss francs due to risks that Naftogaz Ukrainy might succeed in attaching the bonds to the disputed $2.56 billion arbitration award. The issuance had been fully pre- pared, but the Russian gas company feared that payments on the bonds could be seized by local courts acting to secure Naftogaz’s claim, according to reports on Nov. 13.
