EU Attack on Gazprom Pipeline Threatens Transit Talks

Gazprom and its European partners are facing a bigger headache over the Nord Stream 2 pipeline after it emerged that Brussels is backing amendments by Romania,the current holder of the EU Council presidency,that could impose greater oversight on the controversial project. An EU official tells Energy Intelligence that Brussels wants the new measures passed by April. The moves could effectively cap capacity utilization of the 55 billion cubic meter per year pipeline,which already faces potential US sanctions and is trying to resolve regulatory hurdles in Denmark.
