Mexico eyeing LNG exports from its west coast using US shale gas

Mexico is reportedly exploring opportunities with gas producers in west Texas to run a pipeline from the producing basins in the US state to Mexico's west coast, where the gas would be liquefied and exported to gas hungry Asian markets. The country's deputy energy secretary Aldo Flores, reportedly told reporters in Houston this week 'a lot of interest' existed adding such a pipeline 'makes total sense for West Texas gas producers'. It is understood the country's energy department has held 'talks' with US shale players to develop a pipeline which would be a win-win for both gas producers and Mexico’s underutlised LNG terminals on the west coast.
