Russia’s fifth-largest oil producer, Gazprom Neft, is boosting production in line with plans to almost double output to 100 million tons of oil equivalent, or about 2 million b/d, by 2020. Announcing its half-year results, the company said oil production rose in the six months to Jun. 30 by 7.1% to almost 24.4 million metric tons (1 million b/d), exceeding planned output by 2.1%. International projects accounted for the bulk of the growth. Output from Serbia’s Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS), in which Gazprom Neft owns 51%, leapt 24.8% to 18,000 b/d. Gazprom Neft boss Alexander Dyukov earlier said international developments should account for 10% - or roughly 200,000 b/d - of total production by 2020 (IOD Jun.30,p4).
