Statoil Seeks Atom Chief

Barbara Judge and Bjorn Tore Godal have been officially nominated as new members to join Statoil’s board of directors. Their names, and those of five seeking re-election to the board, will go to a vote at the company’s shareholders meeting on Aug.31. Judge, a commercial lawyer specializing in corporate finance, served as chair of state UK Atomic Energy Authority from 2004 until its recent privatization. She founded, and from 2000 to 2005, chaired UK equity fund Private Equity Investor and was recently elected chair of government body UK Pension Protection Fund. In 1980, Judge was named the youngest-ever commissioner of the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Also in the 1980s, she sat on the boards of two major banks.
