Russia’s Rosneft Continues to Go for Growth

Having established itself as Russia’s biggest oil producer over the past 10 years, state-controlled Rosneft has no intention of slowing down. The one big question is whether the com- pany will renew the contract of chief execu- tive Sergei Bogdanchikov when it expires on Jun. 29. When he took over in 1998, Rosneft was producing around 240,000 barrels per day of crude. After taking output to 2.265 million b/d last year, Bogdanchikov had been widely expected to leave later this month — but at the company’s annual general meeting (AGM) in St. Petersburg Friday, the board looked set to keep him on.
