Porsche takes on the C-charge

Sports car maker is set to fight Red Ken's proposed ￡25 toll - but can it really hope to succeed? Most of us do not drive into central London regularly and will never have to worry about the capital's congestion charge as a result. So why should we care about Porsche filing for a judicial review that, it hopes, will overturn a proposed hike in the daily charge for the least fuel-efficient vehicles? Porsche's action matters because car companies do not, generally, take government bodies to court, although this is not the first time TfL and the Mayor's office have faced action over the charge; Westminster Council lost an appeal against the original charge in 2002.
