Williams has struggled at the back of the Formula I grid for years and recently announced a need for investors. But it's not all doom and gloom, hears Steve Cropley. Four weeks ago, the news from Williams Grand Prix Engineering seemed dire indeed. After two awful Formula 1 racing seasons topped by the ravages of the Covid-19 pandemic and a parting with its principal sponsor, the team revealed a ￡13 million loss and announced an immediate strategic review of operations that might, in the most extreme of various options, lead to outright sale to a new owner. That could mean the departure of the Williams family from the Oxfordshire team after more than 40 years.
