Soybeans drive US agriculture exports

US agricultural exports reached the third-highest level on record during the 2017 fiscal year — October 2016-September 2017 — fuelled by a surge in soybean shipments. Soybean exports totalled 60mn t, worth $24bn, and accounting for 37pc of total bulk commodity exports. Maize exports rose by 8pc year on year to 55.4bn t, while wheat and cotton shipments increased by 24pc and 50pc to 28mn t and 3.3mn t, respectively.
