Shanxi power plants petition for lower prices

Power plants in Shanxi have petitioned the local government for lower coal prices to be able to secure enough cheap fuel for this winter. The power plants sought the government's help to provide 5.3mn t of "cheap thermal coal specifically for use in heating units", the Shanxi power industry association said in a petition late last month to the Shanxi commission of economy and information technology. The petition was only recently made public.
