Indonesia's PLN cuts 2018 coal demand target

Indonesian state-owned power company PLN has revised down projections for coal demand from the domestic power sector for 2018, as the country's capacity roll-out continues to fall behind schedule. Coal-fired power plants are expected to consume around 90mn t of coal next year - 10mn t lower than PLN's 2016-25 projections in its RUPTL electricity procurement plan, which forecast power-sector coal demand of over 100mn t in 2018.
