CIS to retain positions in EU raw materials and semis markets, prospects for steel products bleak

Seeing non-stop increase in the number of trade cases against CIS steel in the EU, market insiders are concernedabout the format of further cooperation between the regions. Although all important finished steel segments in Europemay become closed for Russia and Ukraine soon, trading in the raw materials and semis segments seems to feel noimpact. Moreover, long standing and strong relationships between the Europeans and CIS exporters cannot be brokenoff overnight. Besides, there are good reasons to believe that with business rebound in the EU after summer holidays,sellers and buyers will resume talks to discuss further cooperation in the new market circumstances.
