CIS longs price may fall further on competition

Export prices for CIS longs may drop further amid intense competition with China. The prices have largely balanced out by end-February, but if bearish expectations regarding Chinese products are true, CIS exporters will have to cut prices as well, participants say. Demand in the export market is still sluggish. Interest in CIS longs in West Africa remains thin, taking into account availability of cheaper Chinese material.
