Seeds of Indian mustard varieties Narendra Rai and NDYR10 were treated with 25, 50, 75, 10 and 125 kR gamma-radiation and 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00% ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) and the M2 generations were evaluated for Alternaria brassicae and white rust [Albugo candida]. Treated plants differed in disease intensity. In Narendra Rai, treatments with 75 kR gamma-radiation or 1% EMS decreased A. brassicae incidence, and 50 and 75 kR gamma-radiation and 1% EMS significantly decreased white rust on NDYR10.
