Methadone fees set to rise following review of July's contentious changes

A REVISED, two-tier fee system for methadone dispensing has been proposed by the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee, following a review of the controversial payment changes that came into effect in July. Payments will continue to be based on each occasion methadone oral liquid is supplied, rather than the number of daily containers issued, and the current ￡4.05 fee will remain in place for every prescription (FP10 or FP10MDA) for seven days or fewer of treatment.
