PSNC sets out its work programme

Helping local pharmaceutical committees to represent pharmacy locally is at the centre of the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee's work programme for 2011.The programme focuses on enabling community pharmacies to offer an increased range of commissioned services, and sets objectives in four key areas:Groundwork: establishing foundations for future service change and growth, in line with Government policy and agreements with NHS EmployersFunding: Securing" full and fair service funding and equitable access to services for contractors, and ensuring NHS funds are distributed appropriately as control over budgets changesFramework: ensuring that technological developments support services, continuing to build a national evidence base for services and providing a regulatory framework that meets contractor needsSupport: providing information, advice and support to contractors and LPCs, andbuilding alliances to promote pharmacy's interestsPSNC chief executive Sue Sharpe said that supporting and empowering LPCs to act as a strong voice for pharmacy will be crucial to securing fair and sustainable service funding, and protecting local enhanced services.
